How does the 32 Soft’s FedEx/UPS Integration solution work? |
QAD is using custom 32 Soft programs and java service to communicate with the FedEx/UPS processing systems by passing real-time information over the Internet.
Do the labels continue to print from FedEx and UPS printers or do they print from a QAD label printer? |
The labels can be printed using the FedEx and UPS printers or using regular laser printer defined on the QAD server.
For international shipments, are there features for automating commercial invoices or other international shipping documents? |
Automatic generation of required documents based, for example, on shipment destination, can be part of 32 Soft’s FedEx/UPS Integration, if requested.
Does an instance of UPS Worldship have to be installed inside the network somewhere? |
UPS Worldship is NOT required for shipment processing and label printing with 32 Soft FEDEX/UPS Integration and has not been included. The same applies to FedEx Ship Manager.
How does it work with the integrated scales in UPS Worldship? |
Currently, 32 Soft’s FedEx/UPS Integration does not have integrated scales capability. It prompts you for package weight and allows you to type it in. We can add scale integration functionality, if you require it.
What do you have in place for partial shipments? |
32 Soft’s FedEx/UPS Integration allows partial shipments and provides details for all packages shipped against the specified sales order.
What happens to the shipment cost if the order quantity changes before it is shipped out? |
32 Soft’s FedEx/UPS Integration is based on sales order shippers. It establishes a real-time connection with FedEx or UPS and transmits the actual sipping weight to the carrier. The carrier sends back the shipment cost and tracking numbers based on the package weight and destination. You can make changes to the shipper and “re-ship” your package with updated quantity/weight if package has not been picked up by the carrier yet. The “re-shipment” will prompt the carrier to provide you with new label/tracking number and an updated cost. The old tracking number will need to be cancelled.
Does this integration need a custom database? |
No. 32 Soft’s FedEx/UPS Integration data which is received from FedEx or UPS (e.g., tracking numbers, shipping cost, service type, etc.) is stored in the QAD User Workfile. The data can also be stored in a custom table, if required.
Will I be able to work ahead, i.e. process shipments prior to the actual ship date? |
32 Soft’s FedEx/UPS Integration is based on sales order shippers. You can, for example, process your shipments on a daily basis, but order packages to be picked up once a week. If your business process requires FedEx/UPS shipments to be based on open sales orders rather than shippers, we can accommodate this requirement, as long as all information required by the carrier can be collected at that time.
Can I populate fields automatically from the shipper when using 32 Soft’s FedEx/UPS Integration? |
Yes.
What QAD version is required for 32 Soft’s FedEx/UPS Integration? |
QAD eB and higher.
How many FedEx/UPS daily transactions does a company need to process to realize a true benefit from 32 Soft’s FedEx/UPS Integration service? |
The number of transaction varies and the best guideline, in our opinion, would be UPS and FedEx service use recommendations. For example, UPS suggests to use its internet shipping options if you are shipping less than 25 packages a week. If you are already using UPS Worldship or FedEx Ship Manager products, then you would definitely benefit from 32 Soft’s FedEx/UPS Integration service. Our existing customers of this service average 50 shipment transactions per day.
What type of setup is needed? What is the cost (estimation) of this product? |
Since companies may have differences in their shipping processes, we perform a detailed business process analysis with each integration to identify the scope of the project. Based on this analysis we provide you with cost estimation and setup details.
How long does it take to implement 32 Soft’s FedEx/UPS Integration for QAD? |
Implementation can take as little as a few weeks to up to several months, depending on a number of factors: how much functionality will be implemented, where the project falls on your company’s priority list and what resources you have available for it, and whether you are already using FedEx or UPS shipment management software. We will take all of these factors into account during our business process analysis and give you and estimate of implementation time.
