• Transfer orders into another business unit in QAD
• Monitor orders status in real-time from creation through transmission, shipment and receipt
• Maintain data integrity between business units
What are the most common questions about this tool?
It is hard to pick a question that would be common because this tool is designed to cover an entire process vs. one specific task or step in the process. But since we use the QAD term “EMT” when talking about this tool’s functionality, questions about EMT often pop up. The tool efficiently handles EMT orders and the data transfer processes related to them. While EMT orders have certain limitations, applied by QAD to preserve data integrity, the functionality itself is very useful and sleek. We find clients who use EMT orders are able to process them successfully with our tool. BUT, the Inter-Company Order Manager does not require that you use EMT orders. If you do not need to maintain the “customer → primary business unit → secondary business unit → customer” link, but instead have an order exchange process only between primary and secondary business units, you can use regular (non EMT) POs and SOs.
Is this tool just for QAD inter-company sites that have a buy/sell relationship and not for those sites that are in a DRP relationship?
This tool does not use QAD DRP functionality. It uses QAD PO and SO functionality instead. However, since the DRP process also involves orders on both receiving and supplying sites, you can translate your DRP process into the PO and SO process as it is implemented with this tool.
Just to confirm, there is no need for QAD EDI module in order to utilize this tool, right?
Right. You do not need to have or implement QAD EDI module for this tool. It is using built in 32 Soft XLD technology that provides communication between Excel and the QAD database and between different QAD databases and servers.
We are in the process of implementing EMT. How does this enhance the process?
First, you will be able to see all of your interconnected orders and their statuses on a single screen. Secondly, you can choose between implementing the EMT portion of EDI or you can use the transfer functionality that comes up with our Inter-Company Order Manager tool. By using our built in transfer functionality, your whole EMT process will be shorter since you will not need to run ASN export from SBU. All order processing activity (ASN receipts, PO receipts) in PBU can be performed from a single place – the dashboard tab. Plus data validation with this tool happens prior to transfer. This eliminates data issues (e.g., missing or incorrect part number) when the order is received (via EDI) to SBU side.
Where is the In-Transit shipment information from the SBU stored in the PBU? Is it visible from MRP?
In our generic version, in-transit quantity is stored as unconfirmed PO shippers. Unconfirmed PO Shippers are not visible to MRP.
Can this tool be used in more than one domain configuration?
